Workshop on Informatics in Modern Public Health Practice

The Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health at Georgia Southern and the Magnolia Coastlands AHEC are sponsoring a Workshop on Informatics in Modern Public Health Practice on July 25-26, 2024. The workshop will be held in Macon, Georgia at the Macon Marriott City Center.

Who should attend:
All public health professionals that are responsible for decision-making and service provision will benefit from the workshop. Those professionals may include policymakers, decision-makers, public health and healthcare coordinators, surveillance, and health education staff, informaticians, epidemiologists, and data scientists. Knowledge/Skill Level: Intermediate
Objectives for the training:
- Describe the core concepts of public health information systems and informatics
- Discuss an overview and the phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Recognize the emerging role of informatics in public health surveillance, partner engagement, and quality improvement
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Public Health Informatics
- Explore various geographic information system mapping and health data visualization techniques
Schedule:
For traveling convenience, the workshop will take place over 2 half-days.
- Thursday, July 25, 12:00 noon – 5:00 pm
- Friday, July 26, 8:30 am – 12:00 noon

Georgia Nursing Certificate: The Georgia Board of Nursing deems Magnolia Coastlands Area Health Education Center as an acceptable provider for continuing education (CE). This activity is approved for 8.0 CE hours toward the continuing competency requirements for Georgia licensure renewal.
