HAM Radio Training and Licensing

Region J is committed to strengthening its communication redundancy by accessing more HAM radio operators within the region. Wayne Greene, the Vice President of the Glynn Amateur Radio Association, has agreed to host an in-person Technician level course and testing in Brunswick for our emergency managers and any others who are interested.

This training will be held over a two-day period, Saturday (March 9th) & Sunday (March 10th), at the Glynn County EMA Training Center, 157 Public Safety Blvd., Brunswick. The in-person testing will be administered two weeks later on Saturday (March 23rd) in order to give people time to study and to take online practice tests.

Region J is willing to sponsor one or two partners per facility. If two partners attend from a facility (if>50 miles), they must be willing to share a room. Region J will reimburse you if you take the test and pass for one-night hotel stay, meals, travel (if >50 miles) with appropriate receipts and the test registration fee.
