SUMMARY:Medical Response and Surge Exercise
DESCRIPTION:The Medical Response and Surge Exercise (MRSE) is an annual requirement of the Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) cooperative agreement and is designed to examine and evaluate the ability of HCCs and other stakeholders to support medical surge. Placing stress on the health system is important for testing current response systems\, identifying gaps in preparedness\, and informing improvement planning. \n\n\n\nThe MRSE is a functional exercise. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation (HSEEP) guidelines describe a functional exercise as “an operations-based exercise designed to test and evaluate capabilities and functions while in a realistic\, real-time environment.” HCCs are welcome to use the MRSE as a full-scale event\, provided all MRSE requirements are met and that the HCC can report the data required to calculate the MRSE performance measures. \n\n\n\nRegion J will be hosting an in-person MRSE Tabletop Exercise (TTX) on Jan 14th at Memorial Hospital\, at 10AM\, Building 600\, Classroom #1.  It is critical that we get the right players for this exercise.  Please use the link below to register. \n\n\n\nhttps://training.gema.ga.gov/TRS/broadcastInvite.do?biCofId=73291

SUMMARY:Wide Area Search
DESCRIPTION:This 3-day course will be taught by the Texas A&M TEEX Program and held in Brunswick\, Georgia. \n\n\n\nWhen disaster strikes it can be a challenge to effectively mobilize\, organize\, and deploy resources needed to perform search and rescue operations. The purpose of this course is to prepare participants to support a large search and rescue incident in a variety of roles ranging from searchers in the field\, planning and support staff\, and incident command. While built around the model of a large search and rescue event following a disaster\, the course content applies to a vast number of critical situations including missing persons searches\, natural disasters\, terrorist incidents\, and other scenarios. \n\n\n\nThis course exposes participants to a search management system focused on resource management and search documentation designed to conduct search operations efficiently and effectively. The instructor cadre will lead participants through facilitated discussions\, table-top exercises\, and hands-on activities in practical search skills and search management based on real world scenarios. The three-day long event concludes with a table-top exercise which requires participants to utilize the skills gained during the course to work through an incident from start to finish in a single operational period. \n\n\n\nThe instructor cadre are experienced search and rescue team members from the Federal Urban Search and Rescue System (FEMA US&R)\, State\, municipal\, and Volunteer teams. They bring a wealth of experience gained responding to some of nation’s largest and most challenging operations. \n\n\n\nMore information and registration (to register\, follow this link and look for the course offered in Brunswick beginning June 20): https://teex.org/class/PER213/
