SUMMARY:EMTALA 2026: Two Part Webinar Series\, Part 1
DESCRIPTION:Part One: Tuesday\, December 1 (10:00 a.m.-noon ET) \n\n\n\nPart Two: Tuesday\, December 8 (10:00 a.m.-noon ET)\n\n\n\n\nSpeakerLaura A. Dixon\, BS\, JD\, RN\, CPHRM \n\n\n\nCourse CurriculumEvery hospital that has a dedicated emergency department and accepts Medicare and Medicaid payment must follow the federal law and the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Conditions of Participation (CoPs) Interpretive Guidelines on the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA). \n\n\n\nHospitals without emergency departments must comply with EMTALA if they have specialized capabilities. For example\, EMTALA can impact obstetrical patients and behavioral health patients. \n\n\n\nThis two-part webinar series will cover the regulations and interpretive guidelines regarding EMTALA. It will cover all 12 sections as well as an additional section on on-call physicians and the shared or community care plan process. \n\n\n\nThe webinar will also cover a case\, Moses v. Providence Hospital and Medical Centers\, Inc\, that illustrates the importance of understanding the role of case law in the outcome of EMTALA litigation. \n\n\n\nHospitals could see larger EMTALA fines and more activity because of the OIG final changes. These updates will be discussed during this webinar series. \n\n\n\nContinuing Education CreditsThe Georgia Hospital Association Research & Education Foundation is an approved provider of nursing home administrator credits as a professional trade association in long term care under Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. 393-13-.02\, (1) (a).  Approved for 4 contact hours.   \n\n\n\nBy attending EMTALA 2026: Two-Part Webinar Series Webinar Series offered by Georgia Hospital Association\, participants may earn up to 4 ACHE Qualifying Education Hours toward initial certification or recertification of the Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) designation. Attendees who wish to have the hours applied toward ACHE Qualifying Education credit must self-report their participation by logging into their MyACHE account and selecting ACHE Qualifying Education Credit. \n\n\n\nVisit the GHA Learning Academy for additional details and to register. \n\n\n\nIf you need assistance with registration\, please contact the education department at education@gha.org or 770-249-4529.

SUMMARY:Active Shooter Preparedness Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The City of Brunswick Fire Department and Emergency Management\, in partnership with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)\, will host a free\, four-hour Active Shooter Preparedness Workshop in Brunswick. \n\n\n\nDate: Wednesday\, December 2\, 2026Time: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.Location: College of Coastal Georgia Conference Center\, Jericho Rooms\, 1 College Drive\, Brunswick\, GA 31520Cost: NoneCredit: POST training credit available \n\n\n\nCISA instructors will cover recognizing the threat\, prevention\, protection\, mitigation\, response\, and recovery. The workshop then walks through building or strengthening an Emergency Action Plan. Breakout sessions put your team in the room with other local organizations to compare notes and leave with a concrete planning framework. This is a preparedness workshop\, not a tactical response course. \n\n\n\nThis workshop fits schools\, healthcare facilities\, houses of worship\, businesses\, local government\, public safety agencies\, and anyone responsible for emergency planning or employee safety at a public-facing site. \n\n\n\nSeating is first come\, first served. CISA requires 75 registrants for the workshop to proceed\, so early registration decides whether it happens. If registration exceeds 75\, we will work to seat as many participants as the room allows. \n\n\n\nSave the date! Registration link coming soon. \n\n\n\nClick here to view a fact sheet about the training.
